Abigail Young
BMus (Hons)

Abigail is a violinist, currently studying for her Masters of Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. Throughout her time at RCS, Abigail has received the Mabel Glover String Quartet Prize, and was a finalist of the Governors Recital Prize for Strings and the Cavatina Intercollegiate Chamber Music Competition at the Royal Academy of Music. Abigail greatly enjoys performing around Scotland and the UK as a freelance violinist, and throughout her studies at the RCS has been privileged to play side-by-side with all of the Scottish orchestras and ensembles. Some recent performance highlights for Abigail have included performing at the 2017 Cantelina Festival on Islay and, as the leader of the Aquila String Quartet, performing alongside the Hebrides Ensemble at the 2017 Aberdeen International Youth Music Festival.

Abigail also has a great passion for musical education. Most recently she has been working with NYOS as a String Training Tutor, and with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on their Summer Schools courses alongside world-acclaimed violinist Nicola Benedetti. Abigail fondly remembers growing up attending Saturday music classes, and hopes to pass on her love of music to her students.
